Phubbing — You have done this, but don’t know this word?
Came across a new word today “Phubbing” courtesy Deccan Chronicle’s article
Phubbing = Phone + Snubbing! A portmanteau coined recently a decade ago hasn’t become a common word but is surely a common practice we all do.
Phubbing: The habit of snubbing someone in favour of a mobile phone
It appears from various studies, here, here and here (and surely you don’t need to validate more!) that more than 50% of youngsters suffer from Phubbing.
The Cartoon aptly reflects how high the water has risen! How soon will we sink?
The problem isn’t new now, been almost a decade since we have all seen the side effects of it
Be it the nasty falls or ruined mental health, depression or hard to imagine the hit on social life of people all around us.
Likely no one knows how to deal with this and we are all hoping the positives of tech far outweigh even the nightmarish dark effects
The word hasn’t caught anyone’s attention but we surely miss the real attention when someone phubs us!
What can be done to avoid or delay the Black Mirrorish situation at hand?
